Residential locksmith in Gilbert: rekey the house, cut the keys you need
Rekey one lock or every lock, fit new locks with custom keys, and run one key for the whole house or a different key for each door.
Rekey or replace: what actually fails in a house lock
Inside a house lock cylinder sits a column of spring-loaded pin pairs. The right key lifts every pair to the shear line at once and the plug turns. Rekeying swaps those pins so a different key sets the line, which means every old copy stops working while the deadbolt or knob stays on the door.
Replace the hardware when the hardware is the problem: a latch that no longer catches, a lever that has gone loose, a lock that sticks even with the right key in it. When the lock is sound and the only trouble is who might hold a key, rekeying is usually the lighter job.
Moving into a Gilbert home is the classic case. You have no way of knowing how many copies of the previous owner's keys are out there, and in many cases a home warranty will cover the cost of a rekey after the purchase of a home, so check your warranty paperwork before you pay for one.

One key for every door, or a different key for each
New lock installation is where you decide how the keys work. We can rekey one lock or all of them, or fit new locks with custom keys. Keyed alike, the front, back and garage entry all open with a single key. Keyed different, each door gets its own.
The trade-off is plain. One key is easier to carry and hand out. Separate keys mean a lost garage key opens the garage and nothing else, which suits a rental room, a detached workshop or a house with several people coming and going.
Locksmith Of Gilbert will cut you as many keys and change as many locks as you need. Tell us who needs to get through which door and we set the cylinders to match, at any address from Gilbert to Chandler, Mesa and Queen Creek.
Spare keys, shop-only blanks and the door behind them
Lost the original? A new key can be made from the hardware already on your door, and extra copies can be cut while we are there. Hardware stores stock the common keyways. When yours is not one of them, our shop service carries a broad selection of unique house keys they do not have.
If a lock turns out to be the weak point of the door, we say so and quote the fix before any work starts. Pricing depends on the lock, the time of day and how involved the job is, and you hear the number first.
When we finish, try each new key in its own lock at the door while we are still there. A key that binds on day one is easy to fix on the spot. For rekeys, locks, spares or the home security side of a door, call or text (480) 980-9308 with your address.

The key chart
Pick how many keys your house runs on.

One key for all
- Front door
- Key A
- Back door
- Key A
- Garage entry
- Key A
One ring, one key, every lock. Easy to hand over. A single lost key opens the whole house.
